Yard Sale Tips & Tricks 3 – All About Advertising

Yard Sale 3

Advertising can help ensure that your yard sale is a success. There are many different ways to advertise your sale, both formal and informal. Be sure to tell your friends, post your sale on Facebook, and post fliers around town. If you’re posting fliers, only post with permission and be sure to comply with city ordinances. You can also list your yard sale with The Prowers Journal. Placing a yard sale ad will only cost you $5 and will be posted online and in print, reaching potential customers all over Prowers County.

When writing an advertisement or creating a flier, be sure to include all necessary information. Start with the basics such as the address, dates of the sale, and the start and end times of the sale. If the sale is in a shop or at the back of the property – somewhere not immediately visible from the street – be sure to add that to your address information. Then add a list of items to be sold that day, such as clothing, antiques, home décor, or gardening items. Keep it brief but be specific when you can. For example, if you are selling clothing, list sizes and a short description.

A good example might be as follows:

Yard Sale
1234 S. Main Street – Saturday, July 12 from 8am to Noon – Home décor, queen size sheets sets, kitchen items, Women’s clothing sizes 6-10. Something for everyone! Cash only. No early birds.
