Friday, August 2
At 7:33 pm on Friday, August 2, fire personnel were dispatched to a gasoline or other flammable liquid spill located at 504 North 7th Street in Lamar. The report noted that a gas meter had been struck by a car. Upon arrival at the scene, a 1994 Chevrolet pick was found sitting beside a broken gas meter. The occupant advised that he had struck the meter and had already shut off the valve to stop any gas from leaking. ATMOS Energy was contacted and advised of the incident.
Saturday, August 3
At 11:52 am on Saturday, August 3, fire personnel were dispatched to a vehicle accident with injuries on County Road 8.5 at Willow Creek in Lamar. Upon arrival at the scene, they found a vehicle on its left side in the bottom of the Willow Creek Drainage. EMS had removed the windshield removed prior to arrival. Fire personnel stabilized the vehicle and assisted with the patient removal through the windshield opening. After the patient was removed from the vehicle, support struts were removed and fire personnel stood by while the vehicle was pulled out of the drainage.
