A Perfect Pool Party

Voces Unidas continued to provide some summer fun and relief from the heat this past Sunday, July 7, with their annual free pool party at the Lamar Municipal Swimming Pool.  This marks the 5^th year that Voces Unidas has hosted the party in conjunction with the Lamar Chamber of Commerce and various municipal and civic organizations. 

An estimated 350 kids showed up to enjoy the water as well as food, drinks and music on Sunday.  The day was cut short because of the threat of lightning around 3:30pm.  The day had been planned to continue a little longer, but people had time to enjoy the music from DJ Paul Navarrette and the 30 pizzas donated by Community State Bank.  Partners for HOPE helped pass out the pepperoni while Crossroads proved free bottled water and LiveWell High Plains Community Health Center provided some free, healthy smoothies and shakes.

Gerry Jenkins of Voces Unidas said the annual pool party is a way of saying ‘thanks’ to the public for celebrating and supporting their events over the past year.
