The Holly Commercial Club met for their monthly meeting on May 6 and discussed options for events with the Holly Fun Club. This group is looking for additional activities to present to area youth for the upcoming annual fair in Holly or the Bluegrass Festival set for June 12-14.
Members will check with the Colorado State Patrol about a possible bike rodeo that the officers could host and any ideas or volunteers who could participate in future kid’s events in Holly would be appreciated. Nothing specific has been planned at this time.
The Bluegrass Festival Meal will cost $7 per plate and will include a shredded pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, chips and cookies. Bottled water and iced tea will be offered for the drinks. About 150 persons were served during last year’s festival and at least that many are expected again this year.
The BBQ and Jam Session will be held again on Friday night at 6pm and musicians are encouraged to come out and play. The Saturday Festival begins at 11am with five bands, good food, fun and games for the kids, horse-drawn wagon rides and a free swim day at the pool. A community church will be held at the park on Sunday at 10:30am and gospel music will be provided by Legacy Quartet. A noon meal will also be available. This year’s bands include: Bonham Revue, Out of Nowhere, WMD Bluegrass Band, The Parlor Pickers and Dr. Harlan’s Amazing Bluegrass Tonic. Call 719-691-5475 for information about Colorado’s only free bluegrass music festival.
The Holly Commercial Club meets the first Wednesday of every month at the United Methodist Church. The Club welcomes new members and currently has five associate and fifteen full members.
