PCDI Board  To Assess New Directions for Economic Development

A farewell reception was held for Lance Benninghoff, Prowers County Development Incorporated Executive Director last Friday, February 6.  Benninghoff, who became the director for the economic development organization in September, 2013, accepted an offer to supervise waste management departments for communities on the Colorado Western Slope working out Grand Junction.

“I really appreciate the time I spent in Prowers County, and I had the opportunity to work with some great people,” he said.  “I learned a lot during my time here and I believe I helped start some worthwhile programs which will continue into the future,” Benninghoff added.

PCDI President, Rick Robbins of Colorado Mills, echoed those sentiments, “Lance provided the board with an excellent exit analysis for his time with us.  He did a really good job and also established a network of solid contacts for our future references.”  Robbins said he developed a good working foundation with people in the region and is leaving PCDI on the best of terms.  “He just received a job offer that was too good to turn down,” Robbins stated.

The PCDI President said there are no immediate plans to search for a replacement right now.  He said, the board decided to move slowly in that direction and take stock of what their next steps would be.  “We’re going to meet with the County and the City, as well as representatives from Holly, Granada and Wiley to see where our future interests lie.  We want to make sure we’ve got most of our arrows pointed in the same direction for economic development in the county.  Then we’ll talk about advertising for a new executive director.”  Robbins added he expects that meeting to occur within the next several weeks.
