Interim Administrator Appointed for Town of Holly

Jerry L’Estrange, Interim Holly Town Administrator

Jerry L’Estrange attended his first trustee’s monthly meeting for the Town of Holly as interim administrator Wednesday, January 7.  L’Estrange has been hired by the town to fill the vacancy left by Marsha Willhite following her resignation in November.  He will serve in that capacity while the search for a permanent administrator continues.

The meeting was brief, covering for the most part, annual committee appointments.  Darla Scranton-Specht will continue as Town Attorney; Kim Verhoeff as Municipal Judge; Sheriff Jim Faull will remain Town Marshall, but only until his term of office expires on January 13 and at that point, his successor, Sam Zordel will assume that position.  There were no changes for the remaining committees, covering Police Commission Board, Finance Committee and Scholarship and VALE committee. For the time being, Mayor Brad Simon will remain as the Trustee’s representative on the ARPA board, a position he assumed following the resignation of Willhite.

The monthly crew report included two incidents of vandalism to some north side windows at the light plant.  Law enforcement has been notified.  It’s believed that someone used a BB gun to break windows one week and thrown rocks are responsible for the second episode.  Replacement parts for a new style street light on Third Street have been ordered, as well as parts for the broom for the city’s street sweeper.  Aging and splintered boards for the ballpark bleachers were installed after sanding and varnishing and a hydrant was flushed by the town water dock following a request from a local restaurant after a complaint of a rusty taste in their tap water.  The next regular Trustee Meeting is set for Wednesday, February 4th.
