Only two of the seven, Ron Cook and Sam Zordell actually faced a challenge for election to their respective offices, Prowers County Commissioner and Prowers County Sheriff. Cook is replacing Joe Marble and Zordell is replacing former Sheriff James Faull who did not run for re-election.
The other five positions went into the November General Election with opposition. They include: Andy Wyatt, Prowers County Assessor; Lorraine Woolley, Prowers County Treasurer; Jana Coen, Prowers County Clerk & Recorder, Joe Giadone, Prowers County Coroner and Judge Larry Stutler, County Court Judge.
Following the 9am ceremonies, guests and the officials mingled on the second floor of the courthouse, enjoying refreshments before the Commissioner meeting reconvened. There was a recess from the regular proceedings for the oaths of office and following the break, the commissioners resumed the business of the day which included a reorganization of the county administration positions and county attorney and administrator. Ron Cook has become the Chairman of the Commission Board and Commissioner Wendy Buxton-Andrade, who was not able to attend today’s meeting due to a death in her family, was named Vice-Chairman.
