Sunday, July 20

At 1:22 pm on July 20, fire personnel were dispatched to a road freight or transport vehicle fire located at 100 South Main Street in Lamar. Specifically, fire personnel were called to the scene for a semi with its brakes on fire. Upon arrival, fire crew found light smoke coming from the rear axle of the semi but no fire was visible. Water extinguisher was used on the area to cool it and extinguish any fire that may have been present.

Thursday, July 31

At 2:06 am on July 31, fire personnel were dispatched to 1406 South Main Street in Lamar on report of an activated smoke detector. Upon arrival on scene, fire crew found the alarm sounding but no smoke or fire showing. A walk around the building revealed no smoke or fire. Prowers Dispatch was unable to contact the responsible party for the business. The alarm company was unable to contact the responsible party. Phone number on the outside of the building was not valid. A secondary walk was performed and a strange odor was noticed at the back door. The front glass door was broken out by Engineer Burns and entry was made by Engineers Burns and Kemp. The building was searched and engineers found a locked office door that felt warm approximately halfway down the door. The door was forced open and the office searched, but no fire could be found. The responsible party arrived on scene to secure the building.
