City of Lamar May Sales Tax Lags Behind Last Year

Total Sales and Use Tax for the City of Lamar decreased 2.52% or $7,102 comparing May 2013 to this year. On a cumulative level, the city’s sales tax has dropped $96,350 or 5.53% since the start of the year.
City Sales Tax for May 2014 was down 3.25% compared to last year and Use Tax Collected was up 2.76%. Total taxes collected for this period was $271,473.
Year to Date figures show City Sales Tax off 3.95% and Use Tax Collected was down 20.71% for a drop of $61,580 and $34,236 respectively. Total taxes collected YTD was $1,740.916 for 2013 compared to $1,644,566 for the $96,350 difference.
All 12 retail trade categories, January to June 2014, were down in comparison to the same period for this year.
