The Holly Commercial Club met the first Wednesday of the month on May 7 at Noon at the Holly Methodist Church.  Jude Ratekin introduced herself as the new D.O.N., Director of Nursing at Holly Nursing Care Center.  She will be taking over the position of Amy Pierce, who will be the administrator following the retirement of Lavonda Cathcart.  The guest for the monthly meeting was Sam Zordel, who is running for the position of Prowers County Sheriff in the June 24 primary election.

It was decided there will be around a 5% increase on Shopper rates, n order to cover the cost for the postage increase.  The rates have not changed for many years and we have had an increase in postage almost every year.  It is a must, if the Shopper is to stay in the black.  It was decided to change the rate for the rest of 2014, then we will go over the books and see how the rate increase balances out.  A motion to accept the increase was made by Tracie Kalma and seconded by Darlene Bruce.

The Holly Commercial Club, along with CEB&T will serve the meal Friday night.  The menu will offer bratwurst, Polish sausages, hot dogs, sauerkraut, baked beans and cookies.  Club members will make the beverages, tea or possible lemonade instead of getting drinks from Burger King or McDonalds.

PCDI Executive Director, Lance Benninghoff announced a Customer Service presentation that will run for two hours at the Cow Palace Inn in Lamar.  It will be held May 22-23 at 7:30am and 7pm.

Calvin Melcher stated the VFW will hold Memorial Day Services on May 26 at 8:30am in Hartman, 9:15am in Coolidge and 10am in Holly.  The next Commercial Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 4.
