Letter to the Editor: Granada Trustees Offer Thanks to Commissioner Andrade

Post Office 2

Prowers County Commissioners:

The Town of Granada Board of Trustees would like to thank Commissioner Wendy Andrade for her hard work and support on our recent issues with the Colorado Department of Health and our perceived landfill deficiencies.

The cost of maintaining the landfill in a manner that is satisfactory to the Health Department is not feasible for a small community such as ours.  In connection with this issue, Commissioner Andrade has contacted Representative Tim Dorr and arranged a conference call with our board as well as other entities that are struggling with the same issues regarding the Health Department.  We applaud these efforts and do not consider it to be snooping.

We are not certain what fruit (if any) our efforts will bear, but currently we are in a position that we can’t afford to maintain our landfill and we cannot shut it down.

In addition to working on the landfill issues, Wendy is also working on obtaining better internet service and local weather channels for our area we well as other issues.  As representatives of the Town of Granada as well as citizens of Prowers County, we feel these are all appropriate concerns for our Commissioners to be involved in.
