2014 LCC Runnin’ Lopes Baseball Team

(Lamar, Colorado; April 22, 2014)The 16th ranked LCC men’s baseball team won two of four games against Trinidad State Junior College over the weekend and in the process earned the ‘Lopes the 2014 Empire Conference Championship.

It marked the twelfth conference championship in the past fourteen years for LCC head coach Scott Crampton and the Runnin’ Lopes baseball program. Winning the Conference regular season also means the Runnin’ Lopes will be hosting the Region IX Tournament on May 8th-10th at Merchant’s Park.

“It is a tremendous accomplishment to win the conference regular season. The college and the community should be proud of these young men. They work very hard and have handled a ton of adversity with weather and other issues early in the year. This first class group of young men have come together and formed a tight unit that believes in each other. This season’s motto was “ALL IN””, stated head coach Scott Crampton.

“My coaching staff that consists of Michael Oberto, Ryan Serena, and Tom Medina have done an outstanding job and a ton of credit goes to them,” commented Crampton.

In his 20th year at the helm, Crampton’s current career record at LCC is 864 victories and 365 losses.
