Canine Dante Joins the LPD Force

Dante and OJThe Lamar Police Department would like to welcome Canine Dante to the police force. Canine Dante and his handler Officer O.J. Pierce have recently returned from a month-long training in Kansas to certify both Dante and Officer Pierce as a canine team. Canine Dante and Officer Pierce are a certified team in locating narcotics, apprehension of suspects, and tracking of individuals.

On the third night back in town, Canine Dante assisted the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, and Baca County agencies in successfully apprehending two suspects from a motor vehicle pursuit.

Canine Dante was purchased through donations from the community and the Victims Assistance and Law Enforcement (VALE) Board. The Lamar Police Department would like to thank everyone who made the purchase of this canine possible.
