Over $130,000 Available in 2014-15 Scholarships

Lamar Community College

(Lamar, Colorado; February 27, 2014) Lamar Community College offers a variety of scholarships for traditional and adult students. A complete list of scholarships, eligibility requirements, and their applications can be found at www.lamarcc.edu/scholarship.

LCC’s Presidential Scholarships are academic merit scholarships awarded to outstanding graduating Colorado high school seniors. Today is the last day to apply for the Presidential Scholarships; they cover full-time tuition and fees for two years (up to 15 credits per semester).

The college offers a variety of Community Scholarships including the Daniels Boundless Opportunity EMT and Daniels EMT, Johnson Financial Aid Program, PMC Auxiliary, Lamar Rotary, Robert Hoag Rawlings, as well as memorial scholarships including Darrel Cook, Rich Lovell, and Ron Gomez. The Daniels and Johnson give preference to adult students (ages 22 and older). With one application, a student may apply for all scholarships for which they qualify.

The LCC Foundation also sponsors LCC Service Area Scholarships. The $1,000 awards are open to all graduating service area students. They cover roughly 25% of the cost of full-time tuition and fees.

LCC’s Agriculture and Equine Departments administer several scholarships available to students pursuing studies in Agriculture, Horse Training & Management (HTM), Equine Business Management, and Barrel Horse Training. It includes two National Western Stock Show awards as well as the John E. Ketcham Memorial scholarship.

The Kane Family Foundation sponsors two new LCC/UCCS University Connection Scholarships each year. These scholarships are designed for students who want to complete their associate degree at LCC and then finish a bachelor’s degree at UCCS. They cover tuition, mandatory fees, and books at both colleges for up to four years/eight semesters; two years/four semesters at LCC and two years/four semesters at UCCS.

The LCC Runnin’ Lopes Booster Club sponsors four $1,000 for current or incoming student-athletes. The March 1 deadline is fast approaching.

LCC also matches funds for the Voces Unidas Scholarship to LCC. The application is expected to be posted next week, and the deadline will be April 30.
