(Lamar, CO)  The region’s most affordable health fair returns with the 2014 Community Wellness Expo on April 16th & 17th.  The Community Wellness Expo is sponsored by High Plains Community Health Center, Frontier Bank and the Lamar Parks and Recreation Department.  A $30 fasting blood work panel includes:  Lipids (cholesterol); A1C (diabetes); CBC (infection & anemia); TSH (thyroid); Uric Acid (gout); LDH & CPK (heart enzymes); Po4 (bone health); and, CMP (kidney, liver function, glucose, and electrolytes).  The PSA (prostate) test is also available for an additional $11.

The Community Wellness Expo will be held at the Lamar Community Building from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  There will be over 40 exhibits providing information on how to improve you and your family’s overall health.  Many of the participating organizations will have give-a-ways and drawings at their health exhibits, including a grand prize drawing courtesy of Frontier Bank.

High Plains Community Health Center has received recognition from the United States Government as being in the top five percent of clinics in the nation.  Started in 1995, High Plains Community Health Center is locally operated by a volunteer board and tailors their patient care to community needs regardless of ability to pay.  High Plains works with a variety of health care programs and insurance companies to ensure quality and accessible healthcare and dental care for their patients.  For more information visit the clinic website at www.highplainschc.net.
