I’m Ron Cook, and I’m announcing my candidacy for the Office of Prowers County Commissioner District 2. I’m a lifetime resident of Prowers County and for the past 16 years have owned my business in Lamar. In my business dealings, I have worked closely with our law enforcement agencies. I have also been involved in the community, serving on the Lamar City Council for nine years, the Lamar Utilities Board for two years and I’m currently serving on the Lamar City Council.
I’ve been involved with the promotion of Prowers County and the City of Lamar through various functions including the Lamar Days Rod Run, (19 years) and Toys for Tots Fun Run (20 years) which provided funding for the Toys for Tots event. I have worked with the Lamar Chamber of Commerce on promoting and developing these annual events.
I believe it is hard to make immediate changes in our community, but I can ask hard questions and I can listen to other elected officials which will help move our communities in Prowers County forward. As a Prowers County Commissioner, I will listen to the concerns and suggestions of residents of the communities of Wiley, Lamar, Granada, Bristol, Hartman and Holly. I believe it is important to pursue some of our issues to the state level and I will work to give Prowers County residents a voice that says we are important to the State of Colorado and to the future of Prowers County..
I will commit with my full ability to serve Prowers County for a positive future.
Thank you,
Ron Cook
