Viaero Wireless, one of the corporate sponsors from this September’s Pedal the Plains bicycle event, donated $500 to Southeast Colorado Arts Council this past Tuesday, December 03, at the Viaero Store on East Olive Street in Lamar.

Sarah Hutt, Marketing Events Coordinator for Viaero, presented the check to Rose Ann Yates, President of the arts council. Yates organized the mural project which is displayed at the edge of Bi Centennial Park. Since September, the mural, which was created locally, has been on display to the public at large and was erected just in time for the 800 cyclists who came to Lamar for this year’s Pedal the Plains journey. Yates said the $500 will go towards the expenses incurred in developing the mural, along with future lighting and a plaque naming the sponsors of the mural and those who contributed their talents to creating the artwork.

Viaero Wireless contributed $500 to each of the three communities that hosted the event this year, Lamar, La Junta and Eads. Each town selected their charity of choice. Eads selected the American Legion building for upgrades and La Junta selected the First Presbyterian Church Youth Group for their mission trip to Minneapolis this summer.

Lisa Murray, VP of Marketing for Viaero stated, “Supporting the communities where we do business has always been a crucial part of Viaero’s company mission, and this is a very worthy community project.
