Lamar and southeastern Colorado will be in the spotlight when crowds of bicycle enthusiasts visit during Pedal the Plains. Pedal the Plains, an annual bicycle tour of the Colorado plains, will take place on September 20-22. In addition to local entertainment and food vendors, the Book Depot will contribute to the educational fun by hosting a local author signing on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
The book signing will feature Alma Lou Plunkett and Matt Amrine. Alma Lou Plunkett will be signing copies of her biographical work, “The Kansas-Colorado Line: Homesteading Tales of Several Families” which shares stories handed down in her and her husband’s families for over 100 years. Another confirmed author attending is Lamar’s Matt Amrine, offering his fun and fast-paced “Mook the Ranger and the Seed of Fear”. Matt originally wrote this book for his own children, then decided to make it available to kids everywhere.
Other works by local authors will also be available, as well as the usual selection of regional, state and local history books.
