Tuesday, September 17

At 1:31 pm on September 17, fire personnel were dispatched to a fire alarm at 500 South 12th Street in Lamar.  The occupants were having a fire drill and stated that they had called the company in charge of the alarm to alert them in advance.  An employee stated that she was unsure why the Fire Department had been called as they had tried to keep response from occurring.  The employee confirmed that there was no fire.

Sunday, September 22

At 12:30 pm on September 22, fire personnel were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel located at 1202 North Main Street in Lamar on report of an unknown odor.  On initial response, it was noted that the odor could be a possible H2S exposure.  The motel was evacuated as quickly as possible.  Fire personnel investigated and cleared the building.  The manager later stated that the hotel had been having some sewer problems but the odor wasn’t bad.  The building was cleared and guests were permitted to re-enter.
