At 7:53 am on Monday, July 29, fire personnel were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at 2401 South Main Street in Lamar. Upon arrival at the location, it was found to be a false alarm. A pull alarm had been activated by accident.
At 12:21 pm on Monday, July 29, fire personnel were dispatched to a fire located at 704 South Mullen Street in Lamar. The fire was found confined to a first floor bedroom of the house and fire personnel were able to extinguish it. Fans were used to ventilate the building. The burn room was overhauled and no fire extension was found. All remaining apartments in “B” building were checked for extension and no fire extension was found. The fire’s point of origin was found to be an electrical outlet in the bedroom. Investigation into the exact causes is ongoing. Estimated damage to the property was $10,000.
