Lamar Babe Ruth Softball 16U All-Stars Bound for the World Series

The Lamar Babe Ruth Softball 16U All Star team won regionals in LaJunta this past week. 5 teams competed in the tournament. Lamar went 7-0 in tournament play, beating Lyons, KS, in the championship game with a score of 10-2. The team will now compete at the Babe Ruth Softball 16U World Series in Wilson County, NC. The girls will be flying to North Carolina on Wednesday, July 31, with tournament activities beginning on Thursday, August 1. The tournament will run from August 1 – August 7. At least 10 teams will compete in the tournament. A tournament bracket should be available by Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
The players and parents will be working hard over the next few days to raise money to cover hotel and meal expenses for the coaches and players. Below is a list of scheduled fund raisers for the Lamar Babe Ruth 16U Softball All-Stars team:
- Thursday morning, July 25: Players will be traveling around Lamar selling raffle tickets for a half of a beef. In addition, they will be accepting donations to help with hotel and meal costs.
- Friday, July 26th from 11pm-5pm: Players will be carhopping at Sonic for tips.
Additional fundraising events will be added to this list as they are finalized.
