At 1:32 am on Friday, July 26, fire personnel were dispatched to 1511 South 12th Street in Lamar on report of a fire alarm.  Upon arrival at the scene, the occupant was at the front door.  He stated that his 16-year-old son was cooking eggs, accidentally burned them and activated the smoke alarm.  He noted that the alarm had been reset.

At 1:39 am on Friday, July 26, fire personnel were dispatched to 410 West Chestnut Street in Lamar on report of shorted electrical equipment, specifically electrical arcing from a breaker box.  Upon arrival, fire personnel found the occupant standing in the yard.  Occupant stated that she had heard a loud popping noise and found that the outside breaker box was shooting sparks.  What appeared to be a melted breaker switch was found in the panel of the breaker box.  Lamar Light and Power was notified and responded to the scene.  Fire personnel left the scene to Lamar Light and Power
