On Friday, June 21, 2013, members of the Lamar Chamber of Commerce Honkers met with representatives from two area nonprofit organizations to present them with donations. The Honkers and Lamar Eagles Aerie post 3898 partnered to raise funds for the Southeast Colorado Cancer Initiative (SECCI) and the Remember Foundation. The funds for these donations were raised during two comedy night events held at the Lamar Eagles with talent provided by 2 for the Road Entertainment. Each event featured the talents of up to four comedians and a great meal provided by the Lamar Eagles.

The two events were a great success, and the Honkers were able to present the Remember Foundation and SECCI each with a check for $1000. The Remember Foundation strives to aid local families and victims of Alzheimer’s disease. SECCI helps aid local cancer patients with funds used for expenses in their cancer treatments. All funds donated to these two organizations are used locally.

2 for the Road Entertainment, owned by Adam Vocke and Larry “Moose” Lundstrum of Fort Morgan, has supplied the talent for the past four comedy nights hosted at the Lamar Eagles. Vocke and Lundstrom work to promote shows in Sterling, Fort Morgan and Lamar. The most recent comedy night held on June 7 featured three comedians with Sam Talent headlining and featured comedians Steve Vanderplog and Kevin O’Brian. Headliner Matt Baca and feature comedian Vinnie Montez entertained the crowd during the completely sold out comedy night on April 5.
