Prowers Lodging Panel Funds Spring and Summer Events

The Prowers Lodging Tax Panel approved $23,740 to help promote and market six future events this coming spring and summer.

The Annual Car Show and Rod Run received $2,000 on a three to two vote for the May 17-19 event at Willow Creek Park, the Lamar Chamber of Commerce received $2,740 in funding for Lamar Days by a four to one vote.  Voting was unanimous for the remaining applications including the Lamar Elks Little Britches Rodeo for $2,000 for May 4-5 at the Prowers County Fairgrounds, $2,000 for the 11th annual Holly Bluegrass Festival set for June 7-9, $14,000 for contract fees to secure this year’s Colorado State High School Finals Rodeo for June 5-9 at the Fairgrounds and $1,000 for the Prowers County Monster Truck Show, also at the Fairgrounds, set for July 20.

Funds used by the Lodging Tax Panel come from a 1.9% customer motel tax in Prowers County.  Requests for funds to market a tourist based event should be made to the Lodging Panel.  For information, contact Carla Scranton at 719-336-2384.  The Lodging Tax Panel meets the third Tuesday of each month.  The next meeting will be May 21.
