The Prowers County Sheriff’s Department responded to 302 calls for assistance during this past January, 2013. Lamar posted 180 calls followed by 89 from the county and 19 from Holly. There were a total of 94 jail related calls for Lamar, including two for drugs, one for DUI and one for fraud. The county had five DUI calls, six for animal problems and 14 for various traffic accidents. Twenty-nine warning tickets were issues, four criminal summonses and 13 traffic citations were issued. The Sheriff’s Department has seven new cases assigned for investigations and ten were cleared. Eighteen charges were brought about through investigations and 17 investigations are still active.
To date, 113 people have been booked into the Prowers County Jail and of those, 87 were male. The overall number is down from last January when 129 were booked. Seven inmates were reported to immigration authorities and the average number of inmates held daily through January was 47.
Security at the Prowers County Courthouse noted 6,223 people entering the building for a daily average of 282 in January. Security also made eight arrests on individuals who had warrants posted for their arrest.
Detective Weisenhorn served a search warrant in the 7000 block of CR LL. Jesse Schroeder-Baca, 19, of Colorado Springs was arrested for possession of Scheduled 1 controlled substance with intent to distribute. Schroeder-Baca is being held on $50,000 bond.
Detective Weisenhorn and Posse Deputy Reamy arrested Leslie Sprueill, 24, of Holly and Heather Deason, 25, also of Holly in the 38000 block of CR 35. Sprueill was arrested on a felony warrant for FTC, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, Restraining Order Violation, Domestic Violence and trespassing. Deason was arrested for unlawful possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child abuse. Both are being held at the Prowers County Jail. Sprueill was held without bond and Deason is held on $4,000 bond.
Cost of meals in January was $10,798.99 and medical expenses for inmates for that month were $706.10. January expenses came to $182,136.94 and revenue for the month was $12,708.37.
