November 16-17th, Theresa Butler of the Lamar FFA Chapter traveled to Loveland, Colorado to the Rocky Mountain Farmer’s Union Convention. Butler, who was a participant the FFA Heifer Wrangle this past year, was honored to have Rocky Mountain Farmer’s Union as her heifer sponsor. The Colorado FFA Heifer Wrangle program provides an opportunity for young FFA members to receive a heifer and develop a cattle breeding Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE).
The convention was composed of two days of meetings, the Harvest Moon Gala, and two luncheons. Butler had an opportunity to speak about her experiences and success while participating in the Heifer Wrangle program during the luncheon on Saturday. There were four delegates from Southeastern Colorado, Theresa Butler and her father, Doug, were able to a part of the delegate sessions and vote on policy amendments and delegates for the National Farmer’s Union Convention held in March in Springfield, Massachusetts. This was an overall great experience for Butler and she is so thankful she was able to attend the Rocky Mountain Farmer’s Union Convention, speak to the membership and experience the convention.
