Kuba Kawnick, Multi Instrumentalist, to Perform in Lamar

Kuba Kawnik (pronounced Kahvnik), just back from a cruise on the Princess Sapphire, brings his collection of unique instruments to Lamar on Tuesday, October 23rd, at the Lamar High School Auditorium at 7:00 PM. His performance here is sponsored by the Southeast Colorado Concert Association in partnership with the Southeast Colorado Arts Council.

Kuba was born in Poland and has been playing on different instruments since he was 5 years old. His principal instrument is the vibraphone, but he also plays guitar, violin, theramin-the “untouchable” instrument (wait ‘til you see and hear this one!), the kalimba, flute and handsaw. He uses backing tracks as accompaniment.

He was educated at the Academy of Music in Lodz, Poland, and studied Jazz music at the Akademy of Music in Katowice, Poland. Away from Poland, he has concertized in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Norway and Russia. Recently he can be seen playing on cruise ships such as the Silversea, Princess, NCL, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Oceana and Crystal. He has recorded two CDs which include very famous and beautiful melodies of the jazz, soundtrack and classical genres.

Kuba is a rare and unusual performer who will present a widely varying program of classical, jazz and pops music on some of the most interesting and unusual instruments -some never seen here before. This is a show not to be missed.
