Cow Palace Inn was opened in 1972 by a group of local businessmen. Cow Palace Inn became known as the “go to place” in Southeast Colorado. Over the years several large conventions and meetings were held such as Firemen’s and North American Falconeers.

Cow Palace Inn has been the home to the “2 Shot Goose Hunt” yearly event since 1972 hosting the many celebrities the 2-Shot brings to Lamar.

August 2011 Cow Palace Inn was purchased by Palace Holdings, LLC with Doug and Lee Thrall. Doug was raised and went to school in Granada. He and Lee own a home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lee is an office administrator for a group of doctors and Doug was a real estate broker but now is a motel manager and oversees all the current renovations.

Major renovations began almost immediately. New mattresses and flat screen TV’s were put in each room, the kitchen was completely remodeled, the dining room and lounge were given new décor and new menus were put in place. The tile floor in the front lobby with the original stockholders brands was brought back after being covered for many years. Located inside the motel is a pool and hot tub with that area being completely redone and a new deck built for the hot tub. The ownership remodel plan included going as “green” as possible by installing LED lighting and low flush toilets. New signage was put into place giving the entire motel a new, up-to-date look. Rodeway Inn Cow Palace at the time of purchase had eleven employees and now employs fifty-six people.

By November 2011, Doug and Lee had introduced Rodeway Inn as the franchise and begin adding additional conveniences and changes. Rodeway Inn Cow Palace now has an Espresso Bar serving espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos. Just opened is the Ice Cream Parlor. Only one other restaurant in Colorado is serving 7% milkfat ice cream, featuring shakes, sundaes, and frozen yogurt. Clementine’s Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The new menu has several choices including the “feature” dessert Cow Pie. The Branding Iron Saloon is open seven days a week at 4 p.m. and has six flat screen TV’s showing several sporting events. You can order your favorite cocktail or have dinner in the lounge.

There are still many future plans for Rodeway Inn Cow Palace, one being the Corral Grill in the courtyard.

Rodeway Inn Cow Palace has 100 rooms available to rent, a restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, hot tub, wireless internet, meeting rooms, and large banquet rooms. The motel can accommodate your needs for out of town guests, dinners, meetings, weddings, and special functions including Christmas parties. You are welcome to call for information or booking dates.

Rodeway Inn Cow Palace is located at 1301 N Main Street in Lamar. The phone number 719-336-7753 and fax 719-336-9598.

The ownership and staff would like to thank everyone for their continued support during the remodeling and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you very much!
