The Lamar City Council’s meeting this evening, September 10, has only a few agenda items to be adressed.
The City of Lamar and Prowers County Commissioners have scheduled a joint meeting for Wednesday, September 12, to discuss areas of common interest. The meeting will be held at 5:30pm in the Function Room of the Prowers County Annex on East Cedar Street.
The council will discuss a request on ambulance stand-by fees from the city for a three day 2012 Lamar Community College rodeo event. A public hearing on a sub-division request for property on South 14th Street will be held.
The Monday meeting will begin with a 6:15pm work session to provide an update from Shawna Hodge, Lamar Main Street Director. This past June, Lamar Partnership, Inc. completed a branding process to provide the city with a logo, indentity and various branding strategies to help market the downtown Lamar area. Hodge will provide the city council with a look at the brand and logo.
Will chickens be able to come home to Lamar to roost? Current city ordinances do not allow farm type animals within city limits except for three designated zoning areas. Some chickens may have been crossing the road as apparently some city residents are keeping chickens in their yard. It may be something to cluck about, as the question to allow them in the city is expected to be handed to the Planning and Zoning Commision for their eggszact recommendation.
