Big Timbers History Corner #7 – Award Certificate from the Universal Exposition 1904

This week’s image would be great for a museum scavenger hunt, as it is tucked away in a corner of the downstairs displays, behind the antique dentist chair. It’s an award certificate from the Universal Exposition held in St. Louis in 1904, giving a gold medal to Prowers County Wheat.

The museum’s framed certificate does NOT feature a strategically placed heart over portions of Mercury’s anatomy. It’s not really that explicit for classical Greek type art, but this IS a family news site….

Speaking of hidden treasures, Big Timbers Museum has plenty more for you to find! Admission is only $3 for individuals; $5 lets you bring the whole family for a fun learning experience that also helps preserve our Prowers County heritage for future generations. Open 10 am to 5 pm Tues-Sat. Call 336-2472 for more details.
