A Memorial Mass will be held on February 12, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, CO.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father Grimes officiating.

Connie Davis passed away peacefully at the family home surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born on November 29, 1934 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Albert and Louise Deruy Gaylord. She grew up in a little coal camp called Reliance, Wyo. She graduated from Reliance High School with the class of 1952; then, attended the University of Wyoming School of Teaching. There she met James Robert Davis. They married on December 27, 1956, to this union 4 children were born. Connie was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

The family moved to Burlington, Colorado, in 1961. James set-up a dental practice and Connie set-up a home. In Burlington, she was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. In 1985, they moved closer to family in Las Animas, CO, where Connie became a beloved Grandmother (Gram). She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Connie is survived by her husband of 59 years, James; sons, Albert Hiland Davis and Donald John Davis; daughter, Jean (Ken) Wagner all of Las Animas; granddaughters, Jenna (Bart) White, Cheraw, CO; Shannon Wagner, Pueblo, CO; great granddaughters, Rylee Sue Wyckoff and LaKota White; great grandson, Cash White all of Cheraw, CO; sisters, Lou Jean (Lud) Erzen and Judy (Ray) Silvestri all of Laguna Woods, CA; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Ray) Osloond of Spearfish, SD and Ella Mae Gaylord of Sundance, WY.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth James Davis, and brother, Johnny Gaylord.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Valley Hospice in care of Horber Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 431, Las Animas, CO 81054. Condolence cards may be mailed to Jim Davis, Box 89, Las Animas, CO.
