2016 Begins with Healthy City Sales Tax Report

December 2015 Sales and Use Tax collected in January 2016 indicated a healthy shopping community with City Sales Tax up 6.07% and Total Sales and Use Tax collections up 16.51% from the latest report. City Sales Tax collections were up $19,417.70 at $339,221.23. That’s compared to the 2015 collection figure of $319,803.53.
Year to Date figures reflect the same percentages and amounts for the first month of the year. However Total Sales and Use Tax Collections showed a gain of $58,037.67 over last year. 2015 collections were at $351,460.99 and 2016 outperformed that level with collections at $409,498.66.
Tax Collection figures were mixed for the twelve retail categories and compared for the past three years:
