The Prowers County Board of Commissioners is accepting letters of interest from persons who are residents of Prowers County to fill three (3) positions on the nine-member Prowers County Lodging Tax Tourism Panel. Each term is for three (3) years and will expire in December 2018.
The Lodging Tax Tourism Panel was established in December 2005 to administer the funds created by the 2% lodging tax which was passed by the voters in November 2005. The revenue from the lodging tax has specific guidelines for its use set by the Colorado Statutes. The lodging tax revenue may only be used for advertising and marketing which will bring people from outside the County into Prowers County for events.
The Board reviews applications from area organizations and individuals for funding to help with their advertising and marketing expenses for events held in Prowers County.
The Colorado Statutes stipulate that directors must be from the tourism industry. Each director serves a three (3) year term and is required to attend monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month.
The letters of interest should be addressed to the Prowers County Board of County Commissioners, 301 South Main Street, Suite 215, Lamar, CO 81052 and may also be faxed to #(719) 336-2255 or e-mailed to ctyadmin@prowerscounty.net. Letters should be received by 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2016.
