Otero County Two Vehicle Fatality

The Colorado State Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle crash, which occurred at the intersection of Otero County Road 18 and Colorado Highway 202, in Otero County.
A 2015 Honda Odyssey was traveling northbound on Otero County Road 18, approaching the intersection; when the driver failed to observed a posted stop sign and a red flashing traffic control light, failed to stop and entered the intersection. The Honda collided with a 1986 Chevrolet S10 Pickup, which was traveling eastbound on Colorado Highway 202. The Honda came to rest on its top on the northeast corner of Otero County Road 18, after colliding with a utility pole. The Chevrolet came to rest on its passenger side on the east side of Otero County Road 18 after rolling 1 ¼ times.
The driver of the Honda Odyssey 52-year-old Wilson Simon of Ontario, Canada was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash, and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The Honda Odyssey’s front passenger was identified as Seema Simon of Ontario, Canada. Ms. Simon was also transported to a local hospital along with her three children, all of which suffered minor injuries.
57-year-old Thomas Aragon of Rocky Ford, Colorado, was operating the 1986 Chevrolet and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the attending physician. Mr. Aragon was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the collision. Neither alcohol nor drugs are considered a factor in the crash. However, the crash remains under investigation.
