Lamar Sales Tax Showing Year Long Growth

Sales Tax collections for the City of Lamar, year to date through November, show a gain of 7.92% for city sales tax, translating to $217,579 over last year at this time. Total sales tax collected since January of this year is $2,964,860 compared to last year’s figure of $2,747,281.

Total Sales and Use Tax collections is up 6.41% for the year to date, a gain of $192,648 since January. Total tax collections for Lamar are $3,199,766 as of November, compared to last year’s figure of $3,007,118.  The monthly tax tabulations show an increase of 7.76% over last month for a gain of $18,545 and Total collections for November are $14,971 for a climb of 5.80%.

Despite the gains, there was a drop of about nine of the 12 retail sales categories listed by the city, attributable in part, to some bookkeeping changes for those categories. The tax revenue by category is listed below.
