The Southeast Colorado Art Guild presented its 46th Annual Autumn Art show October 22-24 at the Short Arts Center in Lamar, featuring 34 artists and 104 entries. There were five different artistic mediums for presentation: Painting, Photography, Drawing & Prints, 3-Dimensional, and Artisan.
Cash awards totaling $1,175 were presented at the Thursday night awards ceremony which featured a display of artist’s works, a wine and cheese reception and music provided by Lex Nichols of Rocky Ford. The Brush and Palette Art Club sponsored the Area Award which was won by Vincent Gearhart of Lamar for his photography entry and Daubers Art Club sponsored the Popular Choice Award. All other expenses for the presentation were underwritten by the Southeast Colorado Arts Council.
The Art Guild is current planning several workshops through the coming year which will feature local and regional talents in clay, drawing, pastels, portraits and some other mediums. Thanks are extended to all the members who worked behind the scenes again this year, taking entries, set-up and take-down as well as their advertising and public relations efforts to make each event a success.
