October 3rd Canyons & Plains Annual Meeting Canceled

The annual meeting of Canyons & Plains of Southeast Colorado scheduled to be held at the Cow Palace Rodeway Inn, 1301 N. Main Street, Lamar, CO on Saturday, October 3, 2015, 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. State Senator Larry Crowder was scheduled to speak on issues and success stories for rural Colorado. Senator Crowder is serving his first term in the newly created State Senate District 35, which covers a large area in Southern Colorado, including much of the Arkansas and San Luis Valleys. It is hoped that the organization will be able to host a meeting with Senator Crowder at a future date.

Rick Manzanares C&P’s Executive Director said, “we regret that we have had to cancel the C&P annual meeting. We hope to have Senator Crowder at a future meeting.” Those who made reservations and have paid for the annual meeting will have their funds returned to them. Canyons & Plains (formerly known as Southeast Regional Heritage Task Force) is a heritage tourism development organization. Formed in 2003, C&P serves seven counties – Baca, Bent, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero, Prowers and eastern Las Animas. The non-profit group promotes visitation to and stewardship of the unique historical, natural and cultural assets of southeastern Colorado among residents, state, national and international audiences. Since its formation, C&P has garnered over $1 million in funding for projects in this area.
