LCC Rodeo Results: Chadron State College

Melanie Roman
On September 18-20, the Lamar Community College Rodeo team competed in the Chadron State College Rodeo, with a particularly good showing from the women’s team.

Jayla Reed
The women’s team took top awards in the rodeo, finishing first and outdistancing the second place team, University of Wyoming, by 105 points. Sophomore Melanie Roman won the barrel racing event, while freshman Jayla Reed finished third. The team took another first place when sophomore Ashten Marchant won the goat tying event.

Ashten Marchant
This win propelled the team to second place in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Melanie Roman is now sitting atop the barrel racing standings in the region, and Ashten Marchant stands at second in goat tying.

Thomas Straley
The men’s team was represented in the winnings by freshman Tom Straley. He finished fourth in bull riding.
The team travels to Sheridan, Wyoming, next weekend for the Sheridan College Rodeo. Then the team returns to Lamar to host the Antelope Stampede on October 2, 3, and 4th at the Prowers County Sand & Sage Fairgrounds.
