State Senator Larry Crowder, District 35

I would like to congratulate a recipient of the 2015 Centennial Farms, who was awarded commendation at the state fair, for continuously operating a farm/ranch in Baca County for over a hundred years.

The Kirkendall Ranch in the Pritchett area was established in 1915 and continues to this day. The recipients of this award are Glen and Leanna Kirkendall.

The requirements for Centennial Farm recognition are simple to understand but difficult to achieve. To qualify a property must have been maintained as a working farm or ranch within the same family for at least 100 years. These families have shaped this great state into what it is today and I thank them for their courage and incredible strength continuing in agriculture. When you see the recipients of these awards in the community, congratulate them on a job well done.

Senator Larry Crowder
Dist. 35 Southern Colorado
