Funeral services for Barbara Clifton will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly, Colorado with Rev. Kathy Leathers officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Cemetery. Visitation for Barbara will be held from 8:30 a.m. until time of the service.
Barbara M. (Wagner) Clifton was born on January 13, 1923 in Holly, Colorado to Karl and Olive (Thomas) Wagner. She passed away on August 14, 2015 in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 92.
Barbara was the youngest of 5 children. Barbara attended boarding school in Missouri that was run by her father’s sisters who were Catholic nuns. Around the end of high school, she started spending time with her future husband, Ed Clifton. Barbara then attended business school in Chicago and during that time the war broke out and she went to work for Swift Meat Packing while Ed served in the Navy as submarine service machinist. After the war, Barbara and Ed were married in 1946. Following their marriage, they moved to Denver, Colorado where Barbara began working at Elitches waiting tables. In 1953 Barbara and Ed were blessed with their only child, Curtis. In 1965 Barbara attended nursing school and began working at Denver General. She retired from the hospital in 1985 but continued volunteering for United Way for many years.
Barbara is survived by her son, Curtis Clifton and wife, Cathy; and two grandchildren, Ty Clifton and Kate Clifton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Olive Wagner; and husband, Ed Clifton.
