Samuel, known to most as “Jason” Garcia, was born on August 26, 1970 to Samuel Perfecto Garcia and Vivian Nora Trujillo in Denver, Colorado. He passed away on July 14, 2015 at his home in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 44.
Jason graduated from Weber Basin School in Utah and later from Otero Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology. He worked for several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant in McPherson, Kansas. He enjoyed volunteering at the Bent County Nursing Home, the Bent County Senior Center, and the Las Animas-Bent County Public Library. Jason loved God and his written word, spending many hours in bible study and writing scriptures in his countless notebooks. He prayed for everyone he knew and had a very strong relationship with the Lord. He loved children and never met a stranger. Every life Jason touched was enhanced by his kindness: a true gentle giant.
Jason is survived by his mother and stepfather, Vivian and Gilbert Romero of Las Animas, Colorado; brothers, Gerald (Yolanda Melendez ) Garcia of McPherson, Kansas, Steve (Barbara) Toledo of El Paso, Texas and Taylor Romero of Pueblo, Colorado; sister Rita Toledo of Jemez, New Mexico; nephew, Frank Garcia; and nieces, Lenae Romero, Brianna Romero, and Jerra Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Benancio and Lorenza Trujillo; and aunt, Betty Sandavol.
