Todd Schaefer, a substitute teacher for Wiley middle and junior high school and a board member of the Lamar Library, has been appointed as a replacement for Debbie Reynolds, the former librarian. Schaefer has been a board member for just over a year and has lived in Prowers County with his young family for the past three years. “I haven’t had a lot of experience in this area, although I offer a background in business and management,” he offered on his second day on the job, June 2. He became the interim librarian after discussing the vacancy with other board members and following an interview with city officials.
“I want to continue to make area residents feel welcomed at the library and hope to continue to develop and expand the projects that were initiated by Debbie Reynolds,” he explained. Reynolds left last month after stating that she intended to devote more time to her family. City Administrator, John Sutherland, complimented Reynolds on the work she had accomplished at the library during her employ.
