Eager youngsters, barefooted or sneakered, raced to the finish line at Willow Creek Park during Lamar Days, May 16, to help select the winners for the 13th annual Lamar Rotary Ducky Dash.

Rotary members had been busy months beforehand, selling tickets for the annual Dash, raising funds for some of the Rotary’s projects, including the annual dictionary giveaway to third grade elementary students in the region.

Youngsters volunteered to run a short sprint on grass at the park to determine the winners, who would in turn, draw traditional rubber ducks from the Rotary tumbler.  The names drawn would correspond to the ticket winner.  In this case, Tri County Ford for a first place finish for $750.  Another race winner, Cameron Canete won his heat, but was also the second place winner as drawn by a different racer for the second place prize of $250.  There were five winners who received $100 each: Wallace Gas & Oil, Gene Cruikshank, Parker Heat and Air, Misty Lopez and Valley National Bank.
