The Lamar Community College Horse Training & Management program held its Spring Show on Friday, April 24.  Students in the Horse Training & Management (HTM), Equine Business Management (EBM), and Barrel Horse Training programs demonstrated their skills and how well their horses have learned during the semester by performing reining patterns and other skills.

“This is a great event for our students to showcase their hard work.  Their parents are able to come watch them show and the horse owners come down as well” said HTM instructor Jason Kravig.

HTM instructors JJ Rydberg and Jason Kravig presented a range of awards to the programs’ top-performing students including:

High Point Barrel Horse: Kylie Weekes (Castleford, ID) – $500 Scholarship and Buckle
Overall High Point Male: Ruben Canastillo (Tucson, AZ) – $500 Scholarship and Buckle
Overall High Point Female: Megan Stoll (North Adams, MI) – $500 Scholarship and Buckle
EBM Reining Pattern Champion: Marquita Porter (Clarksdale, MS) – Headstall
Jack Rydberg Award for Highest Scoring HTM Colt: Melanie Roman (Golden, CO) – $500 Scholarship
Most Improved HTM Student: Mason Johnson (Alamosa, CO) – Buckle
