A celebration of life for former Lamar resident currently of Omaha, Nebraska will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the McClave United Methodist Church with Pastor Calob Rundell officiating. Interment will follow in Wiley Cemetery in Wiley, Colorado.

Visitation for Alice will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM at the McClave United Methodist Church.

Alice was born on April 10, 1923 at McClave, Colorado to H.H. and Katie Downing and passed away on April 8, 2015 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 91.

Alice was a loving spouse, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived a life of service to her community. She loved her chosen career serving as a teacher for 42 years. Alice served and supported the First United Methodist Church in Raton, NM and the McClave United Methodist Church in McClave, CO. During her time in Omaha, she attended the Living Faith United Methodist Church. As a member of Queen Esther Chapter # 1 O.E.S., she served as Worthy Matron, organist and other officers for over 47 years. In Raton, Alice was a member and officer in Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers. She also belonged to Daughters of the Nile and Delta Omicron.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Joe, parents; H.H. and Katie Downing and her brother; Harold Downing.

Alice is survived by her daughter; Maril (Bernard) Hauber, grandchildren; Andrea (Michael) Nelson, Curtis Hauber and fiancé Christina Rabenold and 2 great-grandchildren, all of Omaha, NE.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Living Faith U.M.C. in Omaha, Al Cummings Scholarship Fund, McClave U.M.C. in McClave, CO, Raton Humane Society in Raton, NM and/or The Isabell Castillo Performing Arts Center in Raton, NM.

Local services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
