Successful Tip A Cop Raises Domestic Safety Funds

The Hickory House restaurant in Lamar played host to almost two dozen law enforcement officers this past Valentine’s Day, Saturday, as the Domestic Safety Resource Center revived the ‘Tip A Cop’ fundraising program after an absence of several years. From 7am until closing time, various regional police officers greeted customers, showed them to their table and offered beverages through the day on February 14. Some wore aprons, some declined, but police officers, sheriff’s deputies, Colorado State Patrol troopers and others, all did their part to raise funds for the Domestic Safety Resource Center.
According to Kathy McCorkle, Executive Director of the DSRC, $1,391.77 was raised from the early morning to mid evening when the restaurant closed for the day. There was a break in the action in between the lunch and dinner crowd, but the volunteers were kept on their toes providing some of the usual services that the Hickory House wait staff relinquished. Tips were kept separate, but those the officers earned went to a good cause, according to Julie Jones and Kathy McCorkle of DSRC.
McCorkle said a definite ‘thank you’ of appreciation was noted for the efforts of all involved, “Thank you to the Hickory House staff for your assistance and patience. Thanks again to everyone who donated to our cause and helped make Tip A Cop 2015 a huge success.”
Those participating included: Lamar Law Enforcement; Jamison Sherrill, Tanish Clevenger, Cory Allen Forgue, Dave Reid, Nathan Losa, OJ Pierce, Don Williamson and Chief Kyle Miller. Prowers County Deputies; Mike Palacios, Heather Shivers, Ralph Rodriquez and Sheriff Sam Zordel; Colorado State Patrol; Jim Casebolt, Sergeant Gilmore, Carl Aaron and John Bronniman; Granada Police Department; Chief David Dougherty and MaryAnn Lingle; Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department; Deputies Jake Six and Nathan Robison and Port of Entry; Offiers Steve Olvedio and Geri Casebolt.
