Funeral services for Lamar, Colorado resident, Robert Marston will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, Colorado. Pastor Kathy Leathers will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, Colorado. Visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 and 8:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the funeral home.
Robert Owen Marston, son of Dale Owen and Mable Mae (Mason) Marston, was born in Hartman, Colorado on October 17, 1925 and departed this life on January 10, 2015 in Lamar, Colorado at the age of 89.
Robert graduated from Hartman High School in 1943. He served in U.S. Navy from May 1944 to June 1946. On May 8, 1948 Robert was united in marriage to Chloe Ernestine McJunkins. Robert farmed until he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad as a telegrapher on June 2, 1952. He retired from the railroad October 1, 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Chloe Ernestine Marston of the home; daughter, Rebecca Jane and husband, Keith VanCampen; grandson, Chance VanCampen all of Pritchett; brother, Raymond and wife Nancy Marston of Topeka, KS; sister, Irene and husband Jim Strother of Wichita, KS; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and special caregivers at Lamar Estates Care Center where he spent the last 2 ½ years of his life.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Dale Marston on September 13, 1963; mother, Mable Mae Marston on December 17, 1970; brothers, Walter and Earl; and sister, Betty Lou Beck.
