Deadline Approaching to Nominate Lamar Citizen of the Year

The annual Lamar Chamber of Commerce banquet will be held on Wednesday, February 4, at the Lamar Elks Lodge. Nominations for the Citizen of the Year Award, a banquet highlight, will remain open until noon this Tuesday, January 20 at the Lamar Chamber offices. Completed forms should be returned to the offices at 109A East Beech Street in Lamar.
The criteria that the individual or in some cases, group is selected for includes: leadership, community involvement and cooperation and support regarding business or community projects. This includes their personal participation that has resulted in the betterment of the community. A biographical submission of the candidate is also requested.
The banquet also provides an opportunity to thank current and departing Chamber board members for their past contributions and recognizes incoming board members for 2015. Those ending their board memberships are: Tera Binder from JBS Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, Kevin Swanson from Colorado Mills, Norma Swanson from Colorado East Bank and Trust and Laurie Larrick from High Plains Community Health Center. Incoming board members are: Ginger Coberly from Real Deals Magazine, Valerie Baldwin from Viaero Wireless, Christina Stegman from Ark Valley Auto and Patricia Macias from Lamar Estates. Denise Carder, the 2013 Chamber President, will serve as Treasurer.
Current directors are Kynlee Emick who will be the new president for 2015, Lisa Thomas will step down as president and they both will address the audience on the past year and future plans and goals for 2015. Other directors include: Sherry Walls of Healing Hands Massage Therapy, Vickie Dykes from Lamar Estates, Chris Frost from The Lamar Ledger, Mark Carrigan of Carrigan Excavating and Michelle Crown and Jenna Davis from Lamar Community College.
