Funeral services for longtime, Holly, Colorado resident, Patricia Willhite will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Holly United Methodist Church. Pastor Kathy Leathers will officiate. Interment will follow in the Holly Cemetery.
Patricia Ann (Donohoe) Willhite was born on March 4, 1930 in Lamar, Colorado to Ralph and Georgia Donohoe. She departed this life on November 24, 2014 at the Holly Nursing Care Center in Holly, Colorado at the age of 84.
Pat lived in Holly until she attended college at Colorado A&M, which is presently known as Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. While there, she belonged to the Kappa Delta Sorority and was crowned Colorado A&M Rodeo Queen.
In 1951, Pat married her sweetheart, Marvin Willhite. They were blessed with three children, Jeanne, Cathy, and David. Soon after they were married, Marvin joined the U.S. Air Force and they were briefly stationed in California and New Mexico. Following their time in the service, Pat and Marvin moved back to Holly and began their lifelong successful partnership in farming and ranching.
Pat and Marvin owned and bred show and race horses for many years. Pat’s love of horses continued throughout her life as she was very active in Jeanne, Cathy, and David’s showing of horses. Pat did everything from custom sewing beautiful show outfits to painstakingly organizing their horse show schedules and supplies. Pat took great pride in her home and her love of gardening was made evident by her beautiful yard. Her favorite pastime was the game of Bridge. She and Marvin enjoyed traveling and spent much of their vacation time fly fishing at their mountain cabin.
Pat is survived by her husband Marvin, three children, Jeanne Allen and husband, John, Cathy Hammes and husband, John David, and David Willhite and wife, Cheryl all of Holly, Colorado; brother, Robert Donohoe and wife, Janey of Denver, CO; sister, Catherine Tinsley and husband, Maurice of Arvada, CO; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Donohoe and Donald Donohoe; and two infant children.
