The National Weather Service is predicting below freezing temperatures for this Friday evening’s Parade of Lights in downtown Lamar. We’ll drop from a high of the mid fifties that afternoon to a nighttime low of 24 degrees, but fortunately, winds are expected to be very light. All the same, folks who line the parade route from Parkway Drive to the Enchanted Forest are advised to bundle up.
The parade will begin at 6:30pm and will be followed by the First Festival of Lights, sponsored by the Lamar Chamber of Commerce Merchants. Participating businesses will be open until 8pm Friday evening and are running daytime specials as well.
The parade route will lead up to East Beech Street where Santa Claus and his helpers will be on hand at the workshop to meet and greet families through the night. Following the annual lighting of the Forest, Santa’s train will offer rides through the forest. Holiday events, sponsored by local businesses, will take place in the Enchanted Forest between 10am and 2pm each Saturday leading up to Christmas.
